As our Research Intern, you'll join an R&D laboratory environment focused on experimental research and process optimization.

From day one, you'll support hands-on laboratory activities aimed at improving the performance, capacity, and throughput of existing research platforms. Working alongside experienced scientists, you'll execute experiments, analyze outcomes, explore new approaches, and contribute to addressing scientific and technical challenges.

This internship offers the opportunity to develop practical laboratory experience while gradually becoming an independent contributor within an innovative research environment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Execute laboratory experiments in a hands-on research environment.

  • Support flow cytometry and FACS-based activities as part of ongoing research projects.

  • Contribute to optimizing research workflows and improving platform performance and capacity.

  • Analyze experimental results and use findings to support future experiments.

  • Research scientific literature and explore innovative approaches to technical challenges.

  • Collaborate with scientists and subject matter experts across the research platform.

  • Gradually take ownership of assigned activities and work increasingly independently following onboarding.

About you  

To excel in this role you will need to have:

  • You're currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree or pursuing a Master's degree in Biosciences, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or another related Life Sciences discipline.

  • Strong curiosity, learning agility, and enthusiasm for experimental scientific research.

  • A practical, hands-on approach and enjoyment of laboratory work.

  • The ability to work independently, solve problems proactively, and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Resilience and a willingness to learn from unsuccessful experiments.

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Previous experience with flow cytometry or FACS sorting.

  • Experience working with yeast cells.

  • Previous laboratory or academic research experience.

  • Dutch language skills.
