Summary: The RN - Assistant Nurse Manager is primarily responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager with the organization and implementation of day to day unit operations. The Assistant Nurse Manager is also responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities for the provision of quality patient care within the framework of the mission, vision and values of Baptist Health. This person demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational skills and interpersonal skills. The Assistant Nurse Manager reports to the Nurse Manager and serves as a coach and mentor to the staff. In accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, this person demonstrates the consistent ability to act as a role model by providing direction in the application of the nursing process, quality/performance improvement standards and organizational/departmental goals and objectives. This person may also assist the Nurse Manager with interview/hiring process, disciplinary processes, performance evaluations, scheduling, and verification of competencies of staff. Education / Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.Minimum 1 year staff nurse experience required in hospital areas, 3 years required in Oncology at MCC. Charge Nurse experience required. License / Certification: Active RN license, BLS required, ACLS/PALS/NRP required dependant upon speciality area, Chemotherapy/Biotherapy required (at MCC), ONCC required within one year of hire (at MCC) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
• Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
• Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
• Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday.
There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels.
Much exposure to computer work.
Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Occasional exposure to radiation.
