Summary:

The Hardware Technology Manager leads the development, validation, and lifecycle management of hardware platforms and technologies across products and programs. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and cross‑functional collaboration to deliver robust, compliant, and cost‑effective hardware solutions aligned with business goals.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership

  • Own hardware architecture and design decisions for boards, subsystems, and platforms (power electronics, control, sensors, and interfaces).

  • Drive end‑to‑end hardware development: requirements, schematic, PCB design reviews, prototyping, validation, and production release.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards (e.g., UL/IEC/EN, EMC, functional safety as applicable).

  • Lead technology roadmap planning, including platform reuse, obsolescence (EoL) management, and future‑ready design strategies.

  • Review and approve design trade‑offs for performance, cost, reliability, and manufacturability.

People & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of hardware engineers and technical leads.

  • Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and support career development.

  • Build technical depth and execution rigor through best practices, guidelines, and design standards.

Program & Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with firmware, software, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and supply‑chain teams to ensure seamless product execution.

  • Represent hardware engineering in program reviews, risk assessments, and executive updates.

  • Support supplier selection, component qualification, and technical engagement with vendors.

Execution & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive DFMEA, design verification (DVT), reliability testing, and root‑cause analysis.

  • Improve engineering productivity through process standardization, tool optimization, and re‑use strategies.

  • Support cost‑reduction and value‑engineering initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, and 3–5 years in a technical leadership or people‑management role.

  • Strong hands‑on experience in:

    • Analog & digital circuit design

    • Power electronics (Inverter, motor drives preferred)

    • MCU/MPU‑based hardware platforms

    • PCB design, reviews, and bring‑up

  • Proven experience with compliance testing, EMI/EMC, and safety requirements.

  • Experience managing cross‑site / global teams.

  • Strong problem‑solving and data‑driven decision‑making skills

  • Ability to balance technical depth with execution speed

  • Clear, concise communication with engineers and senior leadership

  • Experience with ECAD tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence) and lab instrumentation

  • Ownership mindset with focus on quality, risk mitigation, and delivery
