Description of Work
The Health Care Technician II is responsible for supervising and guiding direct care staff in the absence of the Health Care Supervisor I (DS I). This role focuses on ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals while supporting the implementation of their habilitation and training plans. Duties include assisting with personal care, daily living skills, socialization, leisure activities, and maintaining safety. The technician also helps in classroom and training settings, provides transportation to appointments and activities, and shops with or for individuals as needed. Additional responsibilities include administering emergency care for incidents such as seizures or accidents, performing specified housekeeping tasks, and maintaining accurate records and documentation.The working hours for the Developmental Technician II position located within the Harmony Court Division are from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., including every other weekend, and applicants must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry to be considered. Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. The HCT I position requires frequent lifting and bending.

Salary Range: $32,444.00 – $48,665.00
A Sign-on bonus of $2,500 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

Understanding of approved behavioral intervention programs, medication administration protocols, and the specific needs of the population served.
Ability to clearly document client progress and behaviors, and effectively communicate with families and team members.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with individuals, families, and professional staff while maintaining a professional and even-tempered demeanor.
Capable of independently following up on services to ensure client needs are met, while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Have a Valid Driver's License.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature to provide adequate supervision of the assigned population in the home.
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus**
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

Veteran’s and National Guard Preference
