Purpose: The Japan Medical Education (MedEd) P1-P3 staff (in the following referred as MedEd representative for simplicity) is accountable for delivering high-quality medical education to support the continuing professional development of Health Care Professionals (HCPs) in Japan. The MedEd representative manages medical education plans from strategic concept development through implementation and execution. The MedEd representative will be responsible for the development of a Japan Medical Education Strategy and education curriculum, as well as the design, development, and deployment of programs in close collaboration with Medical teams, and where applicable with Marketing teams. He/she is also responsible for establishing effective collaborations with Academic Institutions, Medical Societies, Thought Leaders (TLs), and Medical Education Providers in Japan to deliver innovative, engaging, and high-quality educational programs for HCPs. Primary Responsibilities : This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the job requirements at the time it was prepared. Medical Education Strategic & Operational Planning: Transforms environmental and market insights and understanding of customer needs into TA Educational Strategy that support the professional development of the targeted HCPs and that will ultimately lead to better patient care. Lead the development and dissemination of a therapeutic medical education strategy in collaboration with Japan Medical Teams and Marketing team. The TA Medical Education (MedEd) strategy will be based on solid understanding of patients and customer needs, internal TA priorities, Medical Strategic Initiatives and Clinical Care Gaps as defined during the customer planning cycle. 2. Education: Transforms customer education needs into successfully implemented educational solutions. Accountable for delivering relevant, innovative, engaging, and high-quality educational programs for Japan HCPs in a manner consistent with global, regional, and affiliate policies, procedures and guidelines and aligned with principles of adult education. Lead the development of a 1-2 years Japan education curriculum aligned with the medical education strategy, while ensuring patients, customer, Japan Medical Team, Business Unit (BU) needs are met. Project Management: Develop and deploy Japan Medical Education programs that are aligned with the principles of adult education and based on unique gaps and needs in Japan: Manage the execution of MedEd programs, effectively employing and coordinating all available resources and involved parties. Maintaining an accurate and current database on the status of all projects with a log of each project's activities and usage of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and collaboration sites for shared learning. Lead, recommend, and monitor channel preference and methods of learning (format) for regional education or performance improvement programs. Design and deploy the evaluation methodology for global/regional/affiliate programs. Apply industry standards / policies for Industry sponsored events or activities, government laws, and societies’ guidelines. 3. External Collaborator/Faculty Engagement: Defines the TLs, Medical Societies and Associations and drives Medical Education engagement strategy in Japan. Build strategic long term collaboration with those partners for implementing high quality Educational initiatives. Coordinate and align activities in these areas with other customer interfacing functions internally. Identify, develop, establish, maintain and manage strategic collaborations in accordance with collaboration standards and policies to deliver high quality medical education. Coordinate Faculty insights across Japan: Gather and maintain knowledge about faculty, medical societies, and other collaborators, tracking their preferences, capabilities, network and Medical Education services. Collaborate with Faculty, Medical Societies for MedEd Services: Collaborate with faculty & medical societies, and other collaborators in the co-creation and co-delivery of MedEd and performance improvements initiatives involving them according to their expertise and capabilities and the specific context of the respective service. Best practices: Drive Best practices for Faculty engagement. Interact with other functions with TL/Faculty or medical society responsibility to leverage existing knowledge and ensure alignment and collaboration on all activities. 4. Internal Stakeholder Engagement/Business Alignment: Effectively works with internal stakeholders (i.e. medical, marketing, market research, corporate affairs, etc.), managing and coordinating internal resources, creating lasting relationships with team members and contributing to the MedEd excellence through proactive sharing of best practices and learning’s. Supports the implementation of the Medical Education Functional Strategy and Operational Plan within respective therapeutic area/geography. Internal communication: Clear communication plan with Business Units, Global Medical Teams, IBU, and Affiliate teams. Understands global, regional and affiliate business goals, and aligns customer and business goals into educational offerings. Entrepreneurial spirit: Helps to build excellence by helping to improve the MedEd function, through proactive sharing of best practices and learning’s, insights and solution ideas as well as through active support of team members. Internal Alignment: Effectively creates alignment and buy-in for the developed MedEd strategy and programs with the Global Medical Teams, IBU, and Affiliates. 5. Continuous Performance Improvement (Internal) Participate in continuous performance improvement (internal) programs to develop the knowledge and skills required in educational design and the required competencies Actively participate in competency-based education and career development opportunities As appropriate, support the development of Internal Education program in support of Japan personnel to help them further develop their scientific or education competencies.
