09About the Role: The Associate Price Reporter is a journalist and pricing specialist within Platts, part of S&P Global Energy. The role focuses on covering spot prices, news, and analysis across the global fertilizers and minerals markets, in full accordance with Platts editorial standards and price assessment methodologies. This role involves daily engagement with physical commodity markets, close interaction with industry participants, and contributing to the ongoing development, maintenance, and governance of Platts price assessments and benchmarks.
The Team: You will join a collaborative, people‑first team within Platts, working closely with colleagues across regions and commodities. The team values strong editorial judgment, methodological rigor, and open collaboration, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Business: Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, is a leading global price reporting agency providing benchmark prices, market data, and analysis used by commodity producers, consumers, traders, and regulators worldwide. The fertilizers and minerals team is responsible for key Platts benchmarks that support transparency, confidence, and efficiency across global markets.
Responsibilities & Impact
Establish and maintain market coverage across global fertilizers and minerals markets in line with Platts methodology, governance, and compliance standards
Report on daily and weekly physical trading activity, collecting and validating market information from a wide range of sources
Assess and publish prices in accordance with Platts’ transparent, repeatable, and auditable methodologies
Write market commentaries explaining price movements, market structure, and underlying drivers
Produce news stories and contribute to multimedia coverage, including webinars and presentations
Represent Platts and S&P Global Energy at industry events, conferences, and external engagements
Engage with market participants and build, manage, and maintain a robust database of industry contacts
Support the refinement of methodologies and the development of new price assessments and benchmarks as part of Platts’ growth strategy in fertilizers and minerals
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience in price reporting, market analysis, or commodities journalism
Knowledge of fertilizers, minerals, or related commodities markets (training can be provided)
Strong interest in global commodity markets and economic fundamentals
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
Strong problem‑solving skills and a self‑starter mindset
Ability to interact professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
Cultural awareness and sensitivity
Strong numeracy skills, including comfort working with data and Excel
Fluency in additional international languages is an advantage
