Job Description
Position Objective:
Overall responsibility for the Perinatal Loss Program.
Essential Job Duties:

- Demonstrates advance clinical knowledge and skill in the specialization of the unit or Initiative.
- Serves as an expert clinician, acting as a clinical resource for the staff, physicians and families. Educates and precepts new staff in the bereavement process.
- Works collaboratively with other units and disciplines in problem analysis and resolution for pathways, protocols and patient care delivery.
- Expertly organizes and reprioritizes patient care activities based on subtle and overt and/or environmental changes. Assists others in prioritizing patient care.
- Meets all requirements of a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery.
- Expertly provides direct patient care to patient and families in a culturally, developmentally and ethically appropriate manner.
- Demonstrates expert skill in managing and planning care for complex patient/family scenarios including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and learning needs of the patient/family.
- Organizes and facilitates the pregnancy and infant loss support group.
- Works with AAMC Marketing department as a spokes person for perinatal loss.
- Participates in fiscal management of unit pertaining to perinatal loss budget data (supplies, material, and continuing education). Writes and revises policies and procedures guiding the care provided to patients and families experiencing perinatal loss. Submits a monthly report on activities and related information dealing with perinatal loss throughout the organization to Clinical Director of Labor and Delivery.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Graduate of approved nursing program.
- Minimum three years experience as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery.
Required License/Certifications:.
- Adherence to credentialing requirements of AAMC as stated in the nursing bylaws. Specialty Certifications required. And Professional Organization Membership required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS.
