The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineer to support batch operations, reporting, and financial system processing for a federal financial ERP environment (Momentum). This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data through daily operations, reporting cycles, and annual close activities. Our ideal candidate will have experience in batch job scheduling, ETL processes, financial systems, and operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for job scheduling, execution, monitoring, and issue resolution across development, test, and production environments

  • Execute and monitor daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual batch jobs

  • Develop, maintain, and execute annual close and mock annual close work plans in coordination with stakeholders

  • Define, prepare, and execute test, demand, and production batch jobs

  • Monitor job performance, troubleshoot failures, and perform reruns as needed

  • Maintain job scheduling documentation, including dependencies, rerun procedures, and contact lists

  • Start up and shut down systems based on defined schedules or approved requests

  • Validate job results in accordance with established procedures and report outcomes to stakeholders

  • Produce and distribute end-of-shift Batch Cycle Operations Reports including job status (completed, executing, pending, aborted)

  • Perform ETL processes, including bulk data loads, patches, and data corrections

  • Develop and maintain batch scheduling and configuration plans for reporting cycles

  • Support key financial processes including month-end, year-end (annual close), and audit activities

  • Support DR/COOP testing and real-world disaster or emergency events

  • Participate in audit exercises and compliance activities

Qualifications
Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 10+ years of experience supporting batch operations, job scheduling, and reporting in an enterprise environment

  • Strong experience with ETL processes, data loading, and data validation

  • Knowledge of job scheduling tools and batch processing frameworks

  • Experience working in an operations environment with shift-based support

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with database concepts and data reconciliation processes

  • Ability to document processes, procedures, and operational reports clearly

  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with technical and functional stakeholders

Desired

  • Experience supporting ERP systems in an O&M environment

  • Familiarity with Momentum Financials

  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server) and query development

  • Knowledge of financial data structures, general ledger processes, and accounting principles

  • Experience with automation tools for monitoring and validation

  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks

  • Experience supporting DR/COOP exercises and audit readiness activities

  • Prior experience with large-scale ERP implementations or operations & maintenance (O&M) programs

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving measures

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies
