What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and optimize backend services that power machine learning-driven features in production environments
• Design and build backend systems that serve machine learning models in production, with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability
• Ensure model predictions are observable and measurable, enabling evaluation using metrics such as precision, recall, and business impact
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to refine requirements, prioritize high-impact problems, and translate them into clear technical solutions
• Contribute to system design, architecture reviews, and code quality improvements
• Diagnose and resolve complex issues across backend services, data pipelines, and model inference systems, including identifying gaps in model performance and system behavior
• Support innovation and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities and driving technical initiatives

What We Need

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in Python
• Proven experience building high-performance or distributed systems
• Experience deploying and serving machine learning models in production systems, including building inference pipelines and integrating model outputs into backend services
• Experience evaluating model performance using metrics such as precision, recall, or other business-relevant measures
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, microservices, and observability, including logging and monitoring systems to track model predictions and system performance
• Ability to operate effectively under ambiguity and navigate dynamic environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

This role focuses on building and operating production systems that leverage machine learning models. It is not primarily focused on model research, experimentation-only workflows, or prompt engineering.

We are hiring for multiple AI Engineers. US annual base salary ranges for this full time position are as follows:

• AI Engineer (IC1): 2+ Years of Experience: $105,000-$142,000
• AI Engineer (IC2): 3+ Years of Experience: $127,000-$171,000
• AI Engineer (IC3): 4+ Years of Experience: $152,000-$206,000
• AI Engineer (IC4): 10+ Years of Experience: $196,000-$265,000
