Job Description

Associate Estimator – Specialty Manufacturing

About the Position

Get ready to bring your A-game as an Associate Estimator for LFG Switchgear Manufacturing! This role is a key entry point into the estimating and quotation process for Power Design’s growing LFG manufacturing division.

As an Associate Estimator, you’ll work directly under the guidance of the Quotations Specialist to help prepare accurate, organized, and competitive proposals for custom switchgear and electrical equipment projects. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who enjoys technical work, problem-solving, and learning how to price projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  If you’re looking to build your estimating career and grow into a full estimating role, we want to meet you!

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the estimating and quotation process from start to finish by assisting with project setup, scope review, and documentation
  • Review customer bid packages, drawings, specifications, and proposal documents to help identify required materials and project requirements
  • Assist in building time, material, and labor estimates for LFG switchgear projects under the direction of the Quotations Specialist
  • Help generate professional quote packages including labor summaries, material breakdowns, and proposal documentation
  • Request vendor and supplier pricing (RFQs), collect returned quotes, and organize pricing comparisons
  • Maintain estimating files, quote logs, historical pricing information, and supplier documentation for tracking and reporting
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, production, and sales teams to clarify project requirements and ensure bid accuracy
  • Support value engineering efforts by identifying cost-saving opportunities or alternate equipment options
  • Participate in turnover preparation for awarded projects by supporting documentation transfer and post-award organization
  • Uphold quality standards and assist with meeting timelines and deadlines for all quote deliverables

Here’s What We’re Looking For

  • A motivated problem solver with a strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • 0–2 years of experience preferred in estimating, electrical distribution, construction, manufacturing, or project coordination
  • Ability to interpret technical information such as drawings, schedules, and equipment specifications (training provided)
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and professional customer service mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with ERP/MRP systems or estimation software is a plus
  • Candidates must be fluent in written and spoken English, as this role requires communication with English-speaking clients and colleagues.
  • Possession of a current U.S. visa and the ability to travel internationally as needed.
  • Demonstrate and uphold Power Design’s core values: integrity, accountability, teamwork, innovation, and growth
