About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) on the Mobile Medical Unit will provide high-quality nursing care under the supervision of a medical provider. The RN will be responsible for patient assessments, administering treatments, educating patients, and collaborating with the healthcare team to deliver comprehensive care to underserved populations. It is a full-time position on a mobile medical unit.
- Conduct thorough patient intakes, including medical history, substance use history, vital signs, and initial screenings based on established screening criteria
- Performs comprehensive and focused physical assessments according to established guidelines
- Obtain/perform point of care and laboratory testing according to standing orders
- Administer/dispense medication for treatment of communicable diseases and/or vaccination for prevention of communicable diseases according to standing orders.
- Identify and properly document patient needs and concerns in the Electronic Medical Record, referring complex cases to the Clinical Director as needed.
- Communicate promptly and effectively with the Clinical Director or other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Assists patients with appropriate referrals, patient assistance programs, prior authorizations, and coordinate acquisition of certain medications with specialty pharmacy and/or manufacturer.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery in the mobile unit.
- Prepare and maintain the mobile unit's clinical environment, ensuring supplies and equipment are stocked and sterile. Perform quality checks on medical equipment and supplies, including maintaining temperature logs.
- Engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices and new developments.
- Participate in community outreach programs to promote the mobile unit's services.
