Position Summary
The Network Systems Engineering – serves as a principal technical authority for McKesson’s global network infrastructure, driving strategic architecture decisions and enabling innovation across hybrid cloud and on‑prem environments. This position is responsible for defining enterprise network standards, leading complex design initiatives, and influencing technology roadmaps to ensure secure, scalable, and high-performing connectivity.
Operating within a regulated environment, this role provides leadership in automation, resilience engineering, and advanced security practices. This role contributes to enterprise architecture alignment, vendor strategy, and governance frameworks that support business transformation. It involves evaluating emerging technologies, mitigating systemic risks, and collaborating with senior stakeholders to deliver infrastructure solutions that enable operational excellence and long-term business value.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead enterprise network architecture strategies for global operations, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
- Establish network standards, design patterns, and governance frameworks aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
- Drive technology evaluations, proof-of-concepts, and vendor selection for strategic infrastructure initiatives.
- Lead automation and orchestration programs for provisioning, configuration, and monitoring across multi-cloud environments.
- Perform systemic root cause analysis for critical incidents and implement long-term corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee capacity planning, performance optimization, and high-availability design for mission-critical services.
- Develop and maintain architectural documentation, standards, and operational guidelines for global network infrastructure.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and senior business leaders to align network solutions with strategic priorities.
- Provide advanced support for change and incident management processes, including risk assessments and impact analysis for enterprise-level initiatives.
- Influence infrastructure roadmaps and contribute to strategic planning that enables innovation and operational excellence.
Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):
- Expert-level knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, load-balancing, API gateways, firewalls, and advanced routing/switching.
- Proven experience in designing and governing enterprise network architectures across global hybrid cloud environments.
- Deep understanding of network security principles, compliance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced skills in automation and orchestration using tools such as Ansible, Python, or similar technologies.
- Ability to lead systemic root cause analysis and implement enterprise-wide corrective actions.
- Expertise in capacity planning, performance optimization, and high-availability design strategies.
- Strong documentation and governance capabilities for architectural standards and operational procedures.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills for engaging senior stakeholders and driving consensus.
- Strategic mindset with ability to balance innovation, risk, and operational priorities.
- Continuous learning orientation to stay ahead of emerging networking technologies and industry trends.
Business Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Typically requires 10+ years of professional experience in network engineering, including enterprise architecture and strategic design responsibilities. Less experience is accepted with relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.
- Proven track record in hybrid cloud networking and advanced security technologies.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
