We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and analysis across multiple business areas. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical accounting knowledge, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with accounting and finance leadership while gaining broad exposure to corporate accounting processes, operational activities, and cross-functional initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, intellectual curiosity, sound judgment, and a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Close month-end books for assigned entities/properties.
Assist with implementation of new accounting standards (e.g., ASC updates).
Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures.
Record, post, and reconcile journal entries in the general ledger.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for assigned accounts.
Assist with the monthly cash clearing process.
Review and analyze reconciliations and investigate resulting variances.
Prepare adjusting entries as necessary resulting from reconciliations.
Research various entries in the general ledger and investigate unusual balances.
Review partner/lender agreements for compliance requirements.
Prepare financial reports and compliance packages for partners/lenders.
Perform cash flow analysis by business unit, identifying key drivers, trends, and variances to support liquidity management and operational decision-making.
Collaborate with other departments and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
Maintain financial security by following internal controls and established company policies.
Ensure compliance with SOX/internal control requirements, including documentation and testing support.
Cross-train in multiple areas within the accounting department.
AI and Automation
Uses approved enterprise AI tools (e.g., Claude Cowork, Microsoft Copilot) to draft, summarize, analyze, and accelerate everyday work.
Applies sound judgment to review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, tone, and appropriateness before using or sharing them.
Follows company data handling, confidentiality, and acceptable-use policies when working with AI tools and sensitive information.
Demonstrates curiosity and willingness to adopt new tools; actively participates in AI training, office hours, and adoption campaigns.
Uses AI assistants to reduce manual effort on routine tasks (email drafting, meeting notes, document summarization, basic research).
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the development of and enhancements to current accounting processes.
Special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned.
Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
4-7 years of relevant full cycle accounting experience required.
Real estate and/or property management accounting experience preferred.
Public accounting experience a plus.
Advanced knowledge of Excel functions and formulas.
Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems.
Strong GAAP knowledge and analytical skills.
Ability to meet hard deadlines and perform in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated flexibility with changing priorities and competing deadlines.
Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated with an attitude of continuous learning and process improvement.
