The Sr Manager - Information Security, Tools and Engineering, is responsible for developing and collaborating across departments to implement Verisign's information security program. The primary goal of the this role is to lead the implementation and operational maturity of the organization’s security tooling ecosystem. This role oversees the engineering team responsible for deploying, integrating, monitoring, automating and maintaining security technologies that enable detection, prevention and response across the enterprise.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in security tooling with proven leadership experience, and demonstrates a commitment to automation, scalability and engineering-driven security operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supports implementation, stabilization, and daily performance of security tooling
  • Lead lifecycle management of enterprise security tools and platforms
  • Manage and mentor a team of senior security engineers responsible for deployment, integration, tuning and operational management of security technologies
  • Drive and develop automation and an engineering first approach to reduce manual efforts
  • Partner with security operations to ensure tools support operational workflows
  • Establish metrics, KPIs and maturity roadmaps for security tooling effectiveness
  • Ensure tools are configured, proactively monitored and maintained according to security best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement of detection coverage, automation and operational efficiency

Qualifications:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience required; graduate degree in Computer Science or a related field, preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in security engineering
  • 2+ years of experience managing security engineering or security tooling teams
  • Strong hands-on experience with deploying and maintaining enterprise security platforms such as SIEM, EDR, VM, Cloud Security and Security Orchestration and Automation tools
  • Strong scripting and automation skills including Python and experience building automation workflows, integrations or tooling to support security operations
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on technical oversight
  • CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GPEN, preferred

This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

The pay range is $164,300 - 222,300.

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
