About the role
Heidelberg Materials Australia have an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and self-driven individual to join our Southern Region team as the Environment and Regulatory Compliance Lead. Reporting to the Development Manager, this newly created role will suit a candidate who possesses good organisational and judgement skills and, the ability to effectively lead implementation of environment and regulatory compliance projects and initiatives across the region.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead implementation of environment and regulatory compliance projects and initiatives in Victoria and Tasmania
- Create site management schedules to support quarry and concrete plant managers and manage consultants to meet obligations
- Implement audit findings conducted by risk team, assisting sites to complete these
- Effectively work with Quarry and Concrete Plant Managers, Area Managers, and assist Business Unit Operations Managers where required with compliance issues
- Report incidents as required to regulators regarding reporting regulatory non-compliances.
- Maintain positive relationships with regulators
- Implement training for new Quarry and Concrete Plant Managers in site approval obligations
- Manage and maintain centralised document systems related to land management and regulatory approval documents
- Influence change management in awareness of site obligations, assisting operations to forecast expenditure
- Assist operations managers with conducting tenders for ongoing monitoring and reporting at sites
- Represent HMA in policy and regulatory reform discussions where required and stay abreast of changing regulations, communicating any changes back into the business
- Regularly report to management on progress and outcomes of compliance related matters including risks
- Ability to work within a team and autonomously
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders
- Follow safety protocols as instructed by staff when working on site
Qualifications and Experience
- At least 5 years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in quarry, mining, construction, waste and recycling or related industries
- A Bachelors Degree in an Environmental science or environmental engineering field or related qualification
