Position Summary:

Identifies and facilitates opportunities for improvement in the delivery of patient care related to clinical care, patient safety and resource utilization outcomes. Works with cross functional teams to improve process and outcomes related to regulatory programs. Helps the organization achieve quality strategic measures and outcomes-based incentives. Performs data and process reviews for core measures and other quality initiatives, quality improvement and measurement. Facilitates teams and maintains strict confidentiality of all data and information. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with medical and healthcare system staff to ensure effective, results-oriented project outcomes. Serves as change agent.

What the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist will need:

  • Minimum: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

  • Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing

  • Minimum: Current RN Licensure in the State of Michigan. Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.

  • Preferred: Certified professional in healthcare quality, Six Sigma Green Belt or similar

  • Minimum: Three years of clinical experience; experience with quality assurance/improvement, chart review and/or project facilitation.

  • Preferred: Experience in an acute care setting. Three years in quality management and application of quality improvement methodologies, tools, standards and guidelines with hospital staff, leadership and medical staff

What the Clinical Quality Improvement Specialist will do:

  • Conducts focused quality performance reviews, data analysis, and reports for assigned service lines and/or projects to improve the quality outcomes of the organization using electronic medical records, databases, registries and external data as available.

  • Maintains expert knowledge of core measures and other pertinent quality initiatives and regulatory programs.

  • Interprets complex clinical data and communicates effectively to stakeholders.

  • Completes chart reviews including core measures, quality improvement initiatives, regulatory requirements and other projects as assigned.

  • Performs targeted/focused reviews as assigned.

  • Uses process improvement and quality improvement methodologies to improve outcomes.

  • Facilitates and/or leads process improvement team efforts. Motivates teams to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Demonstrates group facilitation skills, and knowledge of adult learning and educational principles.
