UNI-CUE is seeking a passionate and dedicated Math Instructor to join our team for the summer of 2026. The 5th Grade Leadership Academy is a dynamic four-week summer program designed to support students during the important transition from elementary to middle school. The program provides students with opportunities to engage in math, reading, writing, STEM, and leadership activities. The ideal candidate will help foster an engaging and supportive learning environment for students while delivering high-quality math instruction.
Position Type: Paid Summer Position
Hourly Rate: $17/hr.
Program Dates: June 22 - July 17, 2026
Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Teach three 45-minute math classes per day, focusing on foundational math concepts and skills appropriate for 5th-grade students.
- Develop and implement engaging and interactive lesson plans that promote student understanding and interest in math.
- Assure safety of students attending programs.
- Actively participate in program activities, including field trips, team-building exercises, and leadership-focused events.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Uphold a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, curiosity, and confidence.
Qualifications:
- Must have experience as a Mathematics instructor or a Mathematics or Math Education major at the Junior or Senior level.
- Must have at least one year of experience working with youth, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Must be a highly motivated individual capable of working independently without supervision, knowledgeable, open-minded, and friendly.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be self-motivated.
- Must know and enforce safety procedures.
- Must have knowledge of basic first aid.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must be accountable with a strong attendance record.
- Prefer an individual who is capable of driving a van to pick up six students from home to UNI-CUE every morning and back home at the end of the program each day.
Additional Information:
- This position is a paid summer opportunity, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM.
- Applicants must be available for the full duration of the program (June 22 - July 17, 2026).
- The position involves participation in both classroom instruction and extracurricular activities such as day trips.
- Must pass a criminal background check and driving record check.
