Job Description - Senior Plant Project Manager

What you will do:

Supporting Johnson Controls’ Data Center Solutions group, you will support the Plant Project Manager’s in gathering equipment, resources, and information to implement upcoming projects. You will also oversee budgets and work schedules and participate in shareholder meetings while ensuring all deadlines for certain projects are met.

The person in this role will travel between multiple plants in the Edmonton and Nisku areas.

How you will do it:  

  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements as needed.

  • Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions.

  • Plan and manage team goals, project schedules and new information.

  • Supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.

  • Manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and

  • Stored.

  • Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting

  • minutes and emails.

  • Communicate with clients to identify and define project requirements, scope, and objectives.

  • Adhere to budget by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

General Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact between stakeholders and the project team

  • Define project scope by working with stakeholders to establish the project objectives and success criteria

  • Develop a detailed project plan/schedule outlining tasks, timelines, resources and milestones

  • Identify, acquire and manage required project resources

  • Determine tools needed to effectively complete project tasks

  • Responsible for leading the Plant Project Management team and ensuring all members clearly understand their roles and responsibilities

  • Identify potential risks that could impact the project and work with the Plant Project team to develop strategies to mitigate or manage the identified risks

  • Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the team

  • Facilitate regular status meetings with Plant Project team members and stakeholders when necessary

  • Oversee the execution of tasks, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope.

  • Monitor progress against the project plan, identifying any deviations and addressing them promptly.

  • Ensure that project deliverables meet the required standards and quality.

  • Keep stakeholders informed about project status, changes, and issues.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on project progress, risks, and performance.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation for reference and compliance.

  • Quickly address any issues that arise during the project lifecycle.

  • Estimate project costs and develop a budget.

  • Monitor, track and control project expenses to stay within budget.

  • Provide regular updates on financial status to stakeholders.

  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed and meet the project objectives and receive approval from stakeholders to close the project.

  • Conduct a post-project review to evaluate what went well and what could be improved

  • Ensure that all project knowledge is transferred to relevant stakeholders or teams for future reference.

Silent-Aire Specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Single Point Accountability (SPA) for Project

  • Available to work and oversee all plants in Edmonton region

  • Support each Plant Project Manager in the region

  • Customer Report Out at Launch: 

  • Audit hours & material adherence

What we look for

Required:

  • 5+ years of direct work experience in project management/

  • Travel may be required to job sites on occasions including extended overnights, before/after normal work hours, and weekends

    • Occasional travel to field worksite locations may require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

    • Occasional travel is required including international travel. Must have a valid passport or the ability to obtain a passport

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills capable of maintaining strong relationships

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Team-management and leadership skills

  • Documentation management and ability to use project management tools

  • Attention to details even under pressure

  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines

  • Proficient with Microsoft office & Smartsheet
