GENERAL PURPOSE

Supports and responds to team members. Produces a high quality product delivered in a timely manner to satisfy customers. Solves problems with the assistance of other team members and seeks continuous improvement. Completes all activities with a high regard for the safety of others and oneself. May serve as area trainer and/or training endorsement on specific equipment and/or processes, and assist in development of departmental/functional guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Actively engages and encourages involvement of team members in improvement initiatives.

  • Captures, analyzes, and reports on abnormalities relating to the paint line standard processes.

  • Primary contact for communication and follow through on schedule deviations.

  • Actively balance work content across team members to ensure efficient utilization and sustained productivity.

  • Consistently performs to and assists in developing Work Instructions at each process and requests changes when needed.

  • Maintains clear and effective daily communication with the Work Team Leader and team members across all shifts.

  • Consistently performs, knows, and understands SPC/Quality checks by utilizing measuring tools and devices and react to specification data.

  • Maintains a clean, safe, working environment according to 5S principles and department safety guidelines.

  • Leads and participates in MKPS improvement activities within current department or other departments.

  • Reads, understands, and interprets routings/drawings / BOM (Bill of Material) so that parts are produced to quality expectations.

  • Trains others and assists in developing training tools as needed.

  • Regular and predictable attendance based on scheduled hours.

  • Works overtime as needed.

  • Flexibility to work varied hours (surrounding assigned shift) as business needs require.

  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Required Skills:

One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency

Minimum 1 year of experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in reading dimensional production drawings and specifications.

Experience in and knowledge of accessing and using information system computer databases.

OEM training on specified equipment (as needed or upon availability).

Skills and Abilities

  • Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting.

  • Preferred advanced math skills related to ability to operate advanced systems or processes, such as GDT (geometric dimensional tolerances).

  • Ability to use required measuring tools and devices such as calipers, gauges, tape measure, set up probes, etc.

  • Ability to work cooperatively within the team and mentor and influence teaching behavior with team members of other teams to meet goals.

  • Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment, and to identify, teach, and lead others.

  • Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift.

  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.

  • May require obtaining a fork lift license to utilize in a warehouse environment.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to appropriately apply MKPS technical tools, i.e., standardized work, job instructions, work balance chart, time observations. etc.

  • Requires the use of a computer to run systems for MRP, WH locator, enter data, print graphs and signs.

  • Required to talk and to be able to hear and see with or without correction.
