Under the supervision of a licensed physician, the Respiratory Therapist participates actively in the monitoring and treatment of patients with cardiopulmonary and respiratory disease. Respiratory Therapists assume primary responsibility for respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures. Diagnostic concerns include but are not limited to: arterial blood gas analysis sampling and analysis, physical assessment and pulmonary function testing. Respiratory therapists consult with physicians and other healthcare staff to help develop and modify patient care plans. Therapeutic concerns include but are not limited to: Set up and monitoring of therapeutic gases (i.e. oxygen), administering medications needed for respiratory care (i.e. administration of medication via the inhalation route), perform bronchial hygiene therapy, provide cardiopulmonary rehabilitation initiate and support breathing apparatus (i.e. mechanical ventilator management), insert and maintain an artificial airway and administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Requirements:
Graduate of AMA Accredited School for Respiratory Care.
Bachelor of Science preferred.
Current registration in New York State as Respiratory Therapist, Diploma and Licensure required.
BLS and ACLS required. NRP preferred.
Per Diem; various shifts
Salary Range: $52.658/hr - $58.619/hr (Commensurate with Experience)
