Job Title: Software Asset Management (SAM) & Vendor Manager

The Software Asset Management & Vendor Manager is accountable for governing software assets and IT‑side vendor relationships across Linxon’s engineering, enterprise, SAP ERP, SaaS, and AI‑enabled application landscape.

The role ensures license compliance, cost optimisation, vendor control, and audit‑ready governance, working in close partnership with Procurement for commercial execution.

What will you do?

-Software Asset Management (SAM)

  • Maintain the single authoritative software inventory covering:
    • Engineering & BIM tools (Autodesk, Bentley, Trimble)
    • Project Controls (Primavera P6, MS Project, Procore)
    • Microsoft 365 and Power Platform
    • SAP ERP (S/4HANA, ARIBA)
    • SaaS and AI‑enabled applications
  • Track entitlements, usage, renewals, contracts, hosting models, and ownership
  • Ensure compliance across SaaS, subscription, and on‑prem licensing
  • Act as the data authority for all software asset records

-Cost Optimisation & Rationalisation

  • Identify under‑utilisation, duplication, and overlapping tools
  • Drive license optimisation and application rationalisation with:
    • Solution Architects
    • Application / Product Owners
  • Support consolidation to strategic platforms and retirement of legacy tools
  • Provide usage‑based inputs to reduce run and subscription costs

-Vendor Management (IT Ownership)

  • Own IT‑side vendor governance, including:
    • Vendor performance tracking
    • Dependency and lock‑in risk assessment
  • Act as IT’s primary interface with vendors on portfolio and usage matters
  • Prevent shadow IT and unmanaged vendor relationships

-Procurement Partnership (Clear Boundary)

  • Work closely with Procurement with clear ownership split:
    • IT owns: tool fit, usage, lifecycle, renewals validation, risk
    • Procurement owns: negotiations, contracts, POs, commercials
  • Provide Procurement with accurate renewal, usage, and consolidation data
  • Ensure no renewals occur without IT validation

-ERP, SaaS & AI Licence Governance

  • Govern licenses and vendors across ERP and support‑function tools
  • Support ERP transitions (Oracle → SAP, Workday integrations) from a SAM perspective
  • Identify applications with embedded AI and track related license exposure
  • Support AI governance with ownership and cost transparency inputs

-Audit, Risk & Governance

  • Support internal and external audits with clean, auditable data
  • Ensure defensible renewal and exit decisions
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to:
    • License non‑compliance
    • Vendor dependency
    • Contractual lock‑in
  • Enforce software governance standards across regions

Experience, Education and other Required:

  • 8–12+ years in Software Asset Management and Vendor Management
  • Experience managing large, complex software portfolios
  • Strong knowledge of SaaS and subscription licensing models
  • Exposure to ERP licensing (SAP, Oracle – governance level)
  • Experience partnering with Procurement and Finance
  • Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills
  • Complete and auditable software inventory
  • Reduced license waste and unnecessary renewals
  • Measurable cost optimisation delivered
  • Reduced vendor dependency and shadow IT
  • Zero major license audit findings
