Job Description
The Infusion Registered Nurse provides professional, patient-centered nursing care within the infusion clinic. This role is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and evaluating patient responses throughout the infusion process. The nurse administers infusion therapies safely and accurately, monitors patients for adverse reactions, and ensures a supportive and informative patient experience.
The Infusion RN functions as a clinical resource, educator, and triage nurse. This position collaborates closely with Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, pharmacy team members, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate care and achieve high-quality outcomes. The nurse also provides directions to ancillary staff and supports the overall efficiency of clinic operations.

CLINICAL PRACTICE
- Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Administer infusion therapies, including IV medications, supportive medications and hydration treatments, following established protocols.
- Monitor patients during and after infusions; identify and respond to changes in patient condition.
- Perform triage functions and prioritize patient needs appropriately.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, potential side effects, and home care instructions.
- Collaborate with Providers and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Support, guide, and oversee the work of ancillary staff to ensure safe and efficient clinic operations.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Adhere to Organizations policies, procedures, safety standards, and infection prevention guidelines.
- Demonstrate professionalism and uphold the organizations mission, values, and service excellence standards in all interactions.
- Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and standards to maintain a safe and compliant care environment.
Minimum Qualifications NYS licensed/registered RN. Prior experience in an outpatient setting (specialty area) strongly preferred. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
Preferred Qualifications ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform patient assessments and administer IV therapies per NYS RN scope of practice.
- Start and manage peripheral IVs, PICCs, and ports following NYSDOH standards.
- Monitor patients for infusion reactions and implement NYS-approved nursing interventions.
- Document infusion care accurately in accordance with NYS documentation requirements.
- Educate patients on infusion procedures and follow-up care per NYS guidelines.
- Collaborate with providers and pharmacists while ensuring NYS regulatory compliance.
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to NYS infection control mandates.
- Verify medication orders, calculate infusion rates, and follow NYS medication administration laws.
- Maintain active NYS RN licensure and required continuing education (including infection control).
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

Salary Range: Please note that the hourly range for this position will vary based on experience level, education and geographical location.
