The FMLA Coordinator will manage the FMLA and Leave of Absence program for the NC Department of Motor Vehicles. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining compliance with NC DOT HR Department, as well as Office of State Human Resources. This position requires strong customer service and interpersonal skills as it deals with a diverse customer base including working directly with employees and managers for Leave of Absence related topics. This position will initiate actions within the State’s HRIS system, review all required documentation, and utilize the FMLA workbench, if needed.
The FMLA Coordinator will also need to have working knowledge of other types of Leave of Absences, such as, but not limited to - Family Illness Leave, Military Leave, Parental Leave, Voluntary Shared Leave, and/or Short / Long Term Disability.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: $50,088 - $87,654 Salary Grade NC13
Management prefers applicants with the following:
- Experience utilizing the state’s HRIS system, Fiori.
- Working knowledge of multiple types of leave of absences.
- Experience maintaining confidential employee documents, both electronically and hard copies.
- Experience working independently, as well as within a team.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree, typically in Human Resources or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources; or equivalent combination or education and experience.
