Job Description

Title: Practice Leader
Practice: Summerville Oral Surgery 
Location: Summerville, SC & Moncks Corner, SC
Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm 

Candidates must currently reside in or near the Summerville, SC / Moncks Corner, SC market and be able to reliably commute between locations as needed.

Position Purpose:

The Practice Leader is responsible for leading daily practice operations, partnering closely with surgeons, the Regional Director of Operations, and support teams to drive practice growth, operational excellence, financial performance, and team engagement. This role is accountable for developing a high-performing practice culture while supporting referral relationships, patient experience, and long-term business success.

Essential Functions 

Practice Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Foster strong, collaborative relationships with surgeons, team members, and support services by proactively addressing practice needs, resolving concerns, and responding to feedback.
  • Lead by example through Servant Leadership principles, promoting a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with surgeons, including organizing and leading monthly meetings to review practice performance and address concerns.
  • Exhibit outstanding customer service for patients and referring providers.
  • Assist surgeons in the timely and successful resolution of patient needs, concerns, and questions.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and lead the practice in achieving operational levels that optimize productivity, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Maintain full ownership of the practice’s Profit & Loss (P&L) statement and accountability for overall practice performance.
  • Develop and manage the practice schedule while effectively controlling labor costs.
  • Ensure bank deposits are protected and completed timely in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
  • Complete or oversee end-of-day balancing processes.
  • Monitor collections processes and reporting to maintain accounts receivable within established targets.
  • Oversee automated patient communication systems and ensure effective utilization.
  • Support improvements to patient flow to maximize budgeted payroll hours through effective staff scheduling and oversight of scheduling, fee schedules, and collections.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Support and enforce company policies and procedures within the practice.
  • Ensure practice leadership and operations are compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and Oral Surgery Partners (OSP) policies and procedures, including OSHA and HIPAA.
  • Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable privacy and security policies to safeguard patient financial, personal, and health information.

Talent Development & Human Resources

  • Partner with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and retain high-quality talent within the practice.
  • Support the development and delivery of periodic performance evaluations for all team members.
  • Regularly recognize and reward performance and success.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, foster open communication, share company information, and support the ongoing training and development of team members.

Marketing & Growth

  • Partner with Marketing and Development teams to support referral development, practice growth, continuing education (CE) events, and surgeon recruitment initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to support the needs of practice.

Key Performance Indicators

Monthly accountabilities:

  • Hold team meetings
  • Complete quality checks
  • Attendance on scheduled conference calls
  • Effective use of systems including PM system, patient communication system, payroll system, and VOIP phone system, etc.
  • Conduct Business and Financial reviews
  • Quarterly accountability: accurately required checklists.
  • Budget accountabilities: as requested by the practice, assist practice in meeting or exceeding budgets in the following areas:
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Expenses
    • Payroll

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalency, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related discipline, strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in a P&L-focused leadership role.
  • Proven multi-unit leadership experience, including oversight of multiple locations, operational performance, staffing, financial results, and team accountability - Required
  • Experience in healthcare, retail, or service-based industry setting in positions of increased responsibility is a plus
  • Proven ability to build, maintain, and grow referral relationships that support practice growth, patient volume, and long-term community partnerships.

Work Environment:

  • Must adhere to OSP safety procedures to minimize exposure to radiation and other potentially harmful elements used in the provision of medical services.
  • Potential long hours standing on feet.
  • Travel as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation, stooping and bending to files and supplies, mobility to complete errands, or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally work environment may be very stressful.
  • May view computer screens for long periods of time.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
