What You Will Do
We are looking for a dynamic and passionate person to join the team as our Manager, Poultry Procurement. Your primary responsibility will be the management of sourcing, contracting and purchasing protein raw materials at Chomps. You will collaborate with manufacturing, planning, sales, marketing and innovation teams to ensure material demands are supported. You will be a game changer by continuously evaluating the state of material demand and supplier performance and bringing new ideas and solutions to improve the quality, cost and availability of supply for Chomps.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing
- Establish and execute standard strategic sourcing efforts in protein categories through vendor direct negotiations with current suppliers, and identifying new potential vendors in protein requirements to support Chomps extraordinary growth
- Develop expertise in the organization a trusted subject matter expert in in Poultry procurement of multiple species (Turkey, Chicken)
- Manage supplier relationships through utilizing supplier scorecards and formal quarterly business reviews to maximize quality and service while optimizing costs
- Collaborate with Sales and Planning to establish long term protein supply capacity, support business plans, and ultimately enable long-term growth
- Coordinate material flows and the introduction of new protein suppliers and USDA EST number locations, including the quality and regulatory requirements
- Support supplier quality approvals and documentation requests
- Lead costing and sourcing feasibility for innovation stage gates
- Develop and execute policies, contract templates, and responsible sourcing practices aligned with Chomps label claims and sustainability objectives
- Establish program to assess and make recommendations to manage risk across the protein supply base to ensure business continuity
- Purchasing
- Oversee and approve purchase orders with suppliers, facilities, and co-manufacturers
- Assist in resolving supplier issues regarding PO/invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality
- Ensure and promote compliance to Company and procurement policies and procedures
- Proactively report and resolve material availability issues, add in WOS for proactive management
- Ensure visibility to Finance on any cost changes and provide impact analysis
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Meat Science, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in buying and procurement in CPG Food industry
- Prior direct experience in protein, livestock, broiler, or other poultry industries, within the meat industry preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP/MRP systems, NetSuite preferred
- Mastery of procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management
- Strong understanding of forecasting and inventory management
- Outstanding analytical skills with demonstrated success organizing, analyzing and accurately interpreting large amounts of data
- Outstanding communication (both verbal and written) and relationship management skills
- Ability to prioritize workload to deliver against key metrics and deadlines
- Ability to travel 20-30% of the time (on average once a month)
