About the role

The Product Development Manager is responsible for supporting the design, enhancement, and ongoing management of NJM’s personal auto, homeowners, and umbrella products across the company’s operating footprint. This newly created position is accountable for evaluating product performance, analyzing market trends, and identifying opportunities to improve product competitiveness and profitability. The role is also responsible for conducting research, developing recommendations, and collaborating with actuarial, underwriting, claims, compliance, IT, and other business areas to implement product changes and strategic initiatives. In addition, the position ensures alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational objectives, contributing to product strategy and supporting NJM’s growth and performance goals.

Lead the creation & recommendation of new & existing product enhancements for assigned lines of business. Develop short & long-term project roadmaps for each product assigned. Work with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of product goals & objectives. Present recommendation for approval to senior leadership, up to and potentially including the Executive Leadership Team.

Proactively identify, evaluate, and recommend new product opportunities for assigned lines of business. Conduct comprehensive competitor research and other market solutions. Apply the analytical rigor model to determine best solution to successfully solve consumer pain points.

Oversee the successful execution of assigned product enhancements. Work closely with the SOG and PMO teams ensuring a timely implementation. Collaborate and provide support & guidance across Personal Lines in communicating changes to policyholders and staff.

Hours:
Monday through Friday, day shift

Compensation:
The salary is commensurate with experience and credentials but is likely to fall in the $175,000 - $215,000 range. This full time position is based in our suburban West Trenton, New Jersey corporate office, which is easily commutable from central and southern New Jersey as well as Bucks and Philadelphia Counties in Pennsylvania.

Required Qualifications: Knowledge, skills & abilities, experience, minimum & desired education, certification and/or license requirements.

  • Minimum 4‑year college degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in insurance product development, product management, actuarial, or analytics, with increasing responsibilities
  • Strong analytical abilities and natural curiosity for solving complex business challenges
  • Advanced Excel and database skills; proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Commitment to continuous learning, including product best practices and emerging technologies
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree in Business, Data Analytics, Economics, Insurance, or related field

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
