DESCRIPTION:
Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Senior Field Applications Engineer, where you'll provide technical expertise to food & beverage, paint & coatings, microelectronics, power and other industrial companies. Working at the intersection of product development, customer success, and technology innovation, you'll enable customers to integrate our advanced filtration and separations products into their workflows. You'll develop and implement applications, provide training, and ensure customers maximize the value of our technology while solving complex technical challenges.
In this customer-facing role, you'll build strong relationships as a trusted technical advisor, supporting new product introductions, conducting application development, and driving collaborative solutions as customer technologies evolve. Your expertise will help customers achieve exceptional results in aluminum can manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, and food & beverage production, directly contributing to Thermo Fisher's mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
REQUIREMENTS:
As an Application Engineer - Mexico, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Working in the Filtration & Separation business cross-functional team (including Global Key Accounts) to drive growth through collaborations with customers and external industry experts in Mexico to implement manufacturing purification solutions based on the innovative integration of multiple differentiated Thermo Fisher Scientific product platforms
- Providing product application engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the Thermo Fisher Scientific filtration & separation product portfolio for food & beverage, oil & gas, microelectronic and other industrial customer segments.
- Becoming an area expert in the filtration & separation industry through extensive collaborations across Thermo Fisher Scientific’s customer base and elevate Thermo Fisher Scientific’s visibility and reputation through joint publications, presentations, and industry participation
- Working across the relevant Thermo Fisher Scientific organizations to provide customer insights, support customer-centric sales and marketing activities, and champion upcoming product evaluations at customer sites.
- Work with bioprocessing filtration clients and customers to implement manufacturing purification solutions and support the lifecycle of Thermo Fisher Scientific's product portfolio.
- Collaborate with the Thermo Fisher Bioprocessing Application Engineering team and local sales to elevate Thermo Fisher's visibility and reputation in the Mexican Market.
Company Vehicle
This position requires driving a company vehicle, which will require pre-employment and ongoing review of motor vehicle history for candidates who are offered and hired for this position
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Thermo Fisher Scientific is looking for candidates who must have (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Minimum seven (7) years of industrial filtration or fluid separation process development and/or manufacturing science and technology (MSAT) experience in a commercial environment (private, public, government or military)
- Minimum two (2) years of bioprocess development and/or manufacturing science and technology (MSAT) experience in a commercial environment
- Working knowledge of purification processes
- Current, Valid Driver’s license is required, as you will be issued a company vehicle for this position
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, materials science or related discipline from an accredited institution
- Track record of technical collaborations across internal and external organizations, professional technical conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in on-site and remote support to biopharmaceutical companies (start-ups to GKAs) for filter selection and sizing, process optimization, troubleshooting, and scale-up
- Experience supporting the customer through FDA drug approval process in proteins, vaccines, and viral vectors in recombinant protein biopharmaceutical process
- Experience in Virus filtration AND sterile filtration
- Experience evaluating filtration steps to optimize key process parameters with a distinct focus on process economics modeling
- Working knowledge of advanced modality processing such as gene and cell therapy
- Working knowledge of protein purification processes
- Experienced in analytic methods to characterize process fluids such as HPLC, ÄKTA , ELISA, PCR and DLS
Work location:
Remote Mexico City, Mexico Area
Travel: To customer sites within Mexico. 60% Domestic and 10% international travel maybe included.
