Job Description
In this role you will be responsible for inorganic growth, partnerships, and new revenue streams are critical to our long‑term vision. You will drive Corporate Development activities across Greater China, focusing on evaluating, executing, and integrating M&A, investment and JV opportunities.
You will act as a strategic thought partner to regional leadership, influencing decisions with meaningful commercial, financial and market insights.
You are required to be well-versed in full end-to-end M&A (Merger & Acquisition) and JV (Joint Venture) deal process; ready to be creative, flexible, solution-orientated & action-orientated. This role is responsible for achieving long term growth deals.
In this position you will be a strategic thought partner who will advise on and influence decisions that have a impact on the business. You will help drive growth by identifying new business opportunities, be fully accountable and empowered in China’s corporate development strategy and its delivery in the context of the defined vision for Greater China. In addition, this position will be participating in Sony Music’s regional Corporate Development network.
What you'll do:
- Identify, engage and run process on potential M&A, investment opportunities and JV partnerships that enable SME China to expand its presence in the broader music ecosystem.
- Understand and stay current on broad market and industry trends, the competitive landscape, and internal product development efforts to evaluate business opportunities; analyze financial and non-financial data to draw conclusions and make recommendations to SME China Leadership team.
- Prepare financial models for new signings, acquisitions, and business ventures as required.
- Present and pitch corporate development opportunities to the leadership team and other key regional stakeholders.
- Build investment consensus amongst cross-functional teams, influence decision-making within senior leaders, and help drive management team decisions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners, investors, industry experts within China including visibility across the local start-up ecosystem.
- Design and implement new customer acquisition strategies.
- Understand and apply knowledge of the jurisdiction’s rules and regulations in China.
- Collect and share reliable data and information to present solid analysis for initiating new business initiatives.
- Administrate new business project with relentless commitment to successful delivery.

Who you are:
- 6–8 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, consulting, private equity or strategic finance.
- Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of China’s entertainment, digital, tech or consumer landscape.
- Experience leading M&A, JV or investment processes end-to-end.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen.
- Expert negotiation skills.
- Ability to build, communicate and execute new business opportunities.
- Ability to analyze financials, research data and trends in order to uncover insights and opportunities to inform decision making.
- Strong interpersonal skills able to lead cross-functional teams and achieve results in a matrixed, multi-cultural environment.
- The ability to distill information from multiple data resources and produce well-written reports and presentations.
- Proven quantitative modelling experience paired with sound business judgment.
- Proven experience of engaging and presenting to Senior stakeholders.
- Highly collaborative, influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English.
- Ability to operate in complex, high-growth and ambiguous environments.
