Internal Communications & Employee Engagement Intern
Full-Time | May–August | Minneapolis, MN (In-Person)

Position Summary
The Internal Communications & Employee Engagement Intern supports the build-out of Inspire’s internal communications infrastructure.
This role focuses on delivering two primary outcomes: launching an internal newsletter and establishing foundational communications processes. The intern will also gain exposure to broader internal communications work, including executive communications, employee engagement, and internal content development.
This is a hands-on role with clear deliverables and opportunities to contribute to high-visibility communications efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities (Ownership)
Internal Newsletter Development & Launch
- Lead the development and launch of a recurring internal newsletter
- Define structure, gather content, draft, and publish
- Establish a simple editorial rhythm
- Track engagement and identify improvements
Communications Intake & “How to Work with Comms” Toolkit
- Build a simple intake process for communication requests
- Create a clear “how to work with Communications” resource
- Develop basic templates and self-service tools
- Document simple, repeatable workflows
Secondary Responsibilities (Exposure & Support)
Internal Content & Intranet Support
- Draft internal emails and intranet articles as needed
- Support targeted updates to key internal pages
Employee Engagement & Storytelling
- Develop a small number of employee feature stories
- Support internal social and engagement content as needed
Executive Communications & Leadership Engagement
- Support planning and content development for a company-wide Town Hall
Assist with leadership touchpoints and employee engagement sessions, including preparation of materials and follow-up communications
Qualifications
- Rising junior or senior pursuing Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and navigating ambiguity
- Interest in internal communications, employee engagement, or content strategy
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) preferred
Preferred Attributes
- Previous internship experience in communications, marketing, or a related field
- Experience writing for internal or external audiences (e.g., newsletters, blogs, social content)
