Reports To:  Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Automation Integration

Position Summary:

IEM is currently seeking a Control Engineering Technician for our Surrey, BC and will report into the Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager for the automation integration team. The Technician is responsible for installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems to improve safety, quality, and productivity. This role supports automation projects from concept through installation, validation, and production launch while supporting ongoing manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of automated manufacturing systems and equipment
  • Support automation projects through installation, testing, validation, and production startup
  • Support programming, troubleshooting, and optimization of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and vision systems, including assisting with root cause analysis for downtime events
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEAs, and control plans
  • Work closely with production, maintenance, quality, and supply chain teams to support daily manufacturing operations
  • Collect and analyze production data to help improve throughput, reduce scrap, and increase OEE
  • Assist with capital equipment projects, including vendor coordination and basic project tracking
  • Follow and support compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certification in electrical or mechanical engineering technology
  • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing automation
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and vision systems
  • Strong troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience leading projects and working with external vendors
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
  • Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced, high-growth organization

Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

Salary Range: $25-27.50CAD
