About Role

We are looking for a highly analytical and technically skilled Procurement AI & Data Science Expert to lead the design, development, and deployment of AI solutions within procurement.

The role Senior Manager, Procurement – AI Expert, combines deep procurement domain expertise with hands-on data science capabilities, enabling end-to-end ownership—from problem definition and data modelling to algorithm development and business deployment.

You will play a critical role in transforming procurement into a data-driven, intelligent function, delivering measurable value through predictive and prescriptive analytics.

Role Responsibilities

AI & Data Science Development

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models for procurement use cases

  • Apply techniques such as:

  • Predictive modelling (e.g., demand forecasting, price prediction)

  • Classification (e.g., spend categorization, supplier segmentation)

  • Anomaly detection (e.g., fraud, maverick spend)

  • Natural Language Processing (NLP) for contract and supplier analysis

  • Develop scalable data pipelines and model workflows

Procurement Use Case Ownership

  • Identify and priorities high-impact AI/data science use cases across source-to-pay (S2P)

  • Translate procurement challenges into analytical problems and model designs

  • Deliver solutions in areas such as:

  • Spend analytics and insights

  • Supplier risk scoring and monitoring

  • Contract intelligence and clause extraction

  • Sourcing optimization and bid evaluation

Data Engineering & Management

  • Define and structure procurement data models (supplier, spend, contract, PO data)

  • Clean, transform, and integrate large datasets from ERP and procurement systems

  • Ensure data quality, governance, and traceability for AI models

Deployment & Integration

  • Operationalise models into production environments

  • Integrate AI solutions with procurement platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa)

  • Build APIs, dashboards, and user-facing tools for business adoption

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as a translator between procurement, IT, and data teams

  • Present insights and model outputs in a business-friendly way

  • Train procurement teams to use AI-driven tools and insights

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Experiment with advanced techniques (e.g., generative AI, optimization algorithms)

  • Continuously refine models based on feedback and performance

  • Stay up to date with emerging AI and data science trends

Basic Skills (Essential):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Risk Management or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or related domain

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes (S2P, category management, supplier management)

  • Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), SQL, and data manipulation

  • Experience building and deploying ML models in production

  • Strong analytical and data visualization skills (Power BI, Tableau or similar tools)

  • Strong program governance, stakeholder management, and ability to influence senior stakeholders

  • Experience delivering large projects and managing end-to-end operations/programs

  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills (business cases, storytelling)

  • High proficiency in English and Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Data Science, AI, or related field

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM, PMP)

  • Experience with NLP (e.g., contract analytics) and optimization techniques (linear programming, heuristics)

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data tools (Spark, Databricks)

  • Exposure to MLOps practices (CI/CD, model monitoring, versioning)

  • Experience working in matrix/global environments and cross-functional teams

  • Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels

  • Strong problem-solving capability with high learning agility and ability to work with ambiguity

  • Ability to work in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments

  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and drive team capability development
