Position Overview:
BMS Korea is seeking a Specialist, External Communication Review and Medical Operation to join the Medical Affairs team in Seoul. The role serves as the dedicated medical reviewer for promotional and non-promotional materials at BMS Korea — the medical control point that safeguards scientific accuracy, balance, and regulatory compliance of every external BMS communication across Oncology, Hematology, Immunology, and Cardiovascular. The role is the country's day-to-day owner of the Promotional Material Review process in PromoMats and a key partner to Commercial, Regulatory, and Legal & Compliance. In addition, the role enables Field Medical Excellence by supporting Field Medical with digital tools, field activity data, and operational coordination.
This is a fixed-term, full-time position based in Seoul, reporting into Korea Medical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promotional & Non-Promotional Material Review (Primary Accountability)
- Serve as the country medical reviewer for promotional and non-promotional materials across all BMS Korea therapeutic areas, ensuring medical accuracy, currency, scientific balance, and full alignment with KFDPMA, KRPIA, MFDS, and BMS global SOPs
- Own end-to-end PromoMats workflow — intake, review, negotiation, approval, and archival — ensuring compliant turnaround times and audit-ready documentation
- Critically review complex promotional strategies and tactics; provide constructive solutions that balance scientific integrity with commercial objectives across BMS products
- Determine acceptability of data and references supporting promotional claims; provide expert guidance and effective negotiation leading to resolution and approval
- Act as the trusted medical partner to Commercial, Regulatory, and Legal & Compliance — building strong working relationships that resolve content issues constructively, early, and on time
- Maintain detailed review records and ensure adherence to global, regional, and local processes
- Stay current on evolving regulations, new scientific evidence, and commercial strategy through internal/external meetings, training, and medical congresses
- Develop, maintain, and communicate applicable SOPs and Work Instructions for the promotional review process
- Train internal stakeholders on PromoMats and other applicable digital solutions; raise the overall quality and efficiency of materials submitted for review
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements that reduce cycle time, improve first-pass quality, and strengthen compliance
2. Field Medical Excellence Support
- Enable Field Medical to focus on high-value scientific engagement by absorbing operational and system-level workload
- Manage and support digital solutions used by Field Medical (e.g., CRM, content delivery, KOL engagement platforms)
- Coordinate field activity data management — capture, quality, reporting — to support medical planning, KPI tracking, and compliance oversight
- Liaise with Commercial, Regulatory, Legal & Compliance, and other functions on behalf of Field Medical, removing friction from cross-functional execution
- Guide Field Medical colleagues on procedural requirements and appropriate use of approved medical content
3. Other Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain relevant SOPs
- Maintain a current knowledge base across all BMS products and therapeutic areas of focus
- Participate in cross-functional projects
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical, Pharmacy, Healthcare, or Science discipline
Experience
- Prior pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
- Prior experience in Medical Review of promotional materials, including PromoMats, strongly preferred
- Knowledge and experience in BMS therapeutic areas preferred
Skills
- Literature database searching and related computer skills
- Clinical data interpretation
- Verbal and written communication and organizational skills
- Time management
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a high-volume review environment
Language
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
