Job Description:

We are looking for care team members to join the team at the Sooner Pediatric Clinic. Sooner Peds is a large, fast-paced clinic serving a high-volume of pediatric patients in & around Oklahoma City. Estimated to see 21,000 patients this year, our clinic recognizes the importance of preventive care and parental education to obtain the best outcomes for our patients. Our clinic team supports 80+ providers, which includes attendings, residents, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers & a dietician. We have the privilege of watching our patients grow and building relationships with the families we serve throughout their child’s life. We are looking for care team members who are adaptable, team-oriented, have a patients-first attitude, and are passionate about the health of the children of Oklahoma.

General Summary

Under general supervision, provides preventative and health care to an assigned group of patients or clients in the OU Health facility. 

Essential Responsibilities 

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. 

  • Assists with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients. 

  • Provides care according to an established nursing plan. 

  • Observes changes in patient’s condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur. 

  • Provides routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement, and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube. Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol. 

  • Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites. 

  • May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal, and topical medications. 

  • Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations. 

  • An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room. 

General Responsibilities 

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Education Requirements 

  • HS Diploma or GED required 

  • Completion of education requirements for NCLEX-PN examination. 

Experience Requirements 

  • No experience required. 

 

License/Certification/Registration Requirements 

  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire 

  • Current LPN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR a current multistate LPN License (eNLC) required. 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures.  

  • Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and evaluate nursing needs of assigned patients.  

  • Must be knowledgeable about operating room techniques if applying for a surgery position.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
