Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Silvus is seeking an Applications Engineer III who will report to the Senior Applications Engineer on the Applications Engineering team.
The successful individual in this role will work closely with internal Engineering
teams as well as provide in-person customer support while being responsible for the successful release of key new products and features.
This role is expected to help define and test new products and features, assist customers and the Sales team with their technical support requests, perform technical analysis and systems integration, and engineer complete solutions to complex problems.
This position is also expected to expand into a leadership role within
the Applications team operating in the international space, acting as a mentor and leader to junior team members.
This role works closely with internal Engineering teams and provides in-person support with up to 25% travel, both domestic and international.
This position is based at Silvus’ shipping center in Copenhagen, Denmark and is fully onsite, Monday through Friday, but some remote work may be expected as well.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
● Define new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field trials for new product features and accessories.
● Provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in person.
● Provide dedicated live support (via phone and email) during standard European working hours (typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM CET, aligning with 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM PST, to ensure seamless continuous global coverage and assist the US team with off-hours escalations.
● Work individually and with Engineering teams to support requests via in-house or field testing and validation.
● Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
● Support the Sales Engineering team with preparations to lead demonstrations, training, testing, or recreation of bugs and issues seen in the field.
● Create and maintain customer-facing documents and content including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc. to support customers and sales more efficiently.
● Oversee and assist the international Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
● Serve as a mentor and technical leader to Applications Engineers, Sales Engineers, and Field Service Representatives, providing guidance, project support, and regular updates to Management on team progress and KPIs.
● Serve as a leader to junior Applications Engineers, engage in teaching, mentoring, and assisting with projects and daily activities.
● Advocate for process and product improvements, coordinating with the US Sales Engineering and Application Engineering teams to avoid duplicate requests and track and assist with product improvements through completion.
● Manage key customer relationships, fostering technical collaboration and ensuring product direction aligns with market needs.
● Travel requirements – Up to 25% travel to provide in-person engineering support to customers and the Sales team, including demonstrations, troubleshooting, system integration, and training.
● Perform other related duties, of which the above are representative.
Basic Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
● 1-2 years of experience as an Applications Engineer or similar customer-facing, engineering role.
● Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio frequency and data network test equipment and testing.
● Must possess an ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers.
● Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must to effectively communicate with customers and internally across the entire organization.
● Excellent personal and managerial organizational skills and attentiveness to details.
● Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
● Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
● Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
● Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
● Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital
communication technologies.
● Experience with testing embedded radio communication systems.
● Familiarity with Linux.
● Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Office environment.
● Trade shows.
● Outdoor environment for demonstrations.
● Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
● The employee is required to do the following while performing the duties of this job:
− Lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing.
− Walking/Moving in the labs.
