AFTER SCHOOL ENERGY YOUTH LEADER

Hours: 9-10 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 3:00pm-5:00pm
Wednesday – 12:45pm-3:15pm, 1pm-3:30pm, 1:35-3:55pm depending on school
Program runs September 14, 2026 – May 21, 2027
Salary: $18.75 per hour

Duties: Under the direction of the Youth and Teen Manager and Program Coordinator, Youth Leaders plan, organize and lead daily activities for children grades K-5th. After school programs consist of approximately 20-30 participants and 3 staff members. Activities include group games, sports, and arts and crafts.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. Applicants are subject to a Sterling background check. Must have First Aid/CPR certification prior to program start date.
Preferred Qualifications: 1 year or more of experience working with children in recreation, teaching, or day camp environment; knowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, and other large group activities for children between 6-12 years old; ability to live by Kent Parks mission of “Dedicated to Enriching Lives” and demonstrate the following characteristics: responsible, respectful, honest, energetic, passionate, flexible, original, creative, dependable, thoughtful.
Temporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated. In certain instances, temporary employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the State of Washington’s Department of Retirement Systems.
