Job Description
Are you an experienced veterinary leader ready to make a broader impact? VCA Animal Hospitals is seeking a dynamic Group Patient Care Director (GPCD) to join our field leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor our credentialed veterinary technician and assistant teams across multiple hospitals.
As a champion for patient care excellence, you will ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality medicine, enhance patient safety, and elevate the client experience. Collaborating closely with Group Medical Directors and Field Operators, you will directly influence patient outcomes, improve associate retention, and drive hospital performance. Key Responsibilities:
Quality Medicine & Patient Safety:
Implement and uphold current medical standards and best practices in patient care.
Educate and mentor hospital teams on advanced medical practices, client communication, and safety protocols.
Review medical records and hospital processes to ensure excellence in case management and ethical standards.
Evaluate and advise on medical equipment needs and strategy.
Field Leadership:
Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and psychologically safe environment for all associates.
Serve as a key leader representing the needs and perspectives of Patient Care Associates in group-level discussions.
Partner with field leadership to drive key initiatives, manage resources, and support the seamless integration of new hospitals.
Support the hiring, onboarding, and retention of top-tier veterinary technicians and assistants.
Associate Development:
Act as a dedicated mentor and role model, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to quality care.
Develop and support training programs that empower Patient Care Associates to reach their full potential.
Promote Veterinary Technology as a rewarding career path and VCA as an ideal workplace for growth.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician or in veterinary nursing.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
Experience with adult learning, presenting, or public speaking is required.
Licensure: Must be a graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program with an active license in good standing.
Skills:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to mentor and develop talent.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities.
A collaborative mindset with a proven ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
Travel: This position requires travel up to 75% of the time to various VCA hospitals and support offices.
Additional Information
Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000-$95,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
