Job Description:
The Ultrasound Tech provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.Posting Details
Shift Details: PRN providing coverage for staff – no guaranteed hours
- Must provide availability for at least 1 shift per pay period
- All shifts are 10 hours in length
- Variable coverage needs: days, swings, nights, weekends, call, and holiday
- PRN schedules prioritize your availability, providing flexibility and frequent opportunities to pick up preferred shifts.
Location: Utah Valley Hospital, Orem Community Hospital, & Utah Valley Breast Center
- Comfortable working independently
- Skilled across multiple exam types (OB/Pelvic, Abdominal, and Vascular)
- Willingness to support call coverage, schedule gaps, and last-minute needs
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)

- 1 or more years of experience.
Essential Functions
- Perform ultrasound exams according to department protocols while ensuring image quality and accuracy
- Verify patient identification, orders, and prepare patients for procedures
- Maintain ARDMS competency and operate equipment effectively
- Provide patient care, education, and ensure comfort throughout exams
- Accurately document procedures and maintain records
- Follow infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines
- Support team operations, including assisting with training and adapting to department needs

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
