About The Role
The Daily Mail is recruiting an Audience Editor to join our audience team, partnering with wider editorial teams to reach more readers and deepen engagement, on and off platform.
The right candidate will be able to analyse data to provide timely and actionable advice, and work with newsroom desks to ensure the best content is planned, commissioned, published and optimised, and that distribution is tailored to target audiences and platforms.
This is a fast-paced and dynamic role that requires a strategic thinking with excellent communication and analytical skills.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyse real-time and historical audience and content performance data to identify trends and opportunities for growth and engagement on and off platform
- Translate data into actionable insights for the newsroom and provide desks with real-time advice on commissioning, optimisation and distribution
- Monitor search, social and audience trends to spot gaps in our coverage
- Help to identify repromotion opportunities and tailor stories for specific audiences, platforms and user journeys
- Execute experiments aimed at better attracting, engaging and retaining our target audiences
- Assist with planning for daily content and future news events
- Build strong relationships with editorial teams and work closely with them to implement audience engagement best practices
- Assist in developing content, distribution, growth and engagement strategies
- Stay up to date with industry trends and audience engagement best practices
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, data or a related field
- Experience in audience development, editorial data analysis or journalism, ideally within a subscriptions business
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to inform strategies and decisions
- Strong storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders
- Good editorial judgement and the ability to work and make decisions quickly
- Knowledge of SEO and content optimisation best practices
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices for engagement
- Creative problem-solving skills and a willingness to experiment
