About the role: This role will be working for our Mars Petcare segment, where we make life better for pets and their owners.

The Operations Manager – Tray Facility , will have direct line management responsibility for a team of 4 Shift Managers and an indirect team of approximately 100 Production associates across a continuous rotating shift roster, over a 24/7 operation.

The role will be largely accountable for enhancing our already strong talent and engagement culture at Mars. You will also provide leadership in the areas of associate development and engagement in line with the Mars 5 Principles & Supply 5S’s. The Operations Manager is a key role within the Wodonga Site Leadership Team (WSLT) and the delivery of the site’s strategic imperatives across 5 pillars of Sustainability; Digital; Growth; Productivity; and Human Capable & Connected.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive all key operational metrics for the Facility to deliver Operational Excellence across key deliverables including: Safety, Quality, Customer Service Levels and Efficiency
  • Build a High Performing Culture within the Facility, focusing on:
    • Talent Development
    • Factory Impact and Engagement Plans
    • Continuous Improvement Focus
    • Collaboration across the rest of Supply
    • Driving vision and purpose across the team
  • Specific lead accountability for the Tray facility area for:
    • Safety (Mars Safe Lead)
    • Quality (HACCP Support, CAPA, PRIMP)
    • Performance Management
    • Continuous Improvement work streams in conjunction with Supply Effectiveness
    • The ongoing optimization of overall MCC costs
    • Lead for future EBA negotiations.

Your unique ingredients:

  • Significant supply experience – ideally across multiple roles that work with or are part of Site operations
  • At least 3 years shift /operations management experience
  • Proven People leadership skills, ideally having led a large factory team
  • Proven strength in delivering results and/or driving change through leading multi-functional teams
  • Experience in a complex manufacturing environment, ideally in a similar FMCG or CPG environment
  • Degree qualified, a with preference for qualifications associated with manufacturing (Engineering, science)
