BASIC FUNCTION:

Ensure robust fiscal practices, maintain effective systems of internal control, and optimize resource coordination to support the Howard University Center of Excellence (HU-CoE) Project’s objectives.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Financial Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the Howard University College of Medicine’s Center of Excellence (CoE) Project. Key responsibilities include:

Implementing and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.

Monitoring financial activities of the University and project consultants/subcontractors to meet regulatory requirements. Managing analysis and tracking of program activities, identifying discrepancies, and preparing reports to support audits. Preparing and submitting comprehensive annual financial reports.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze and interpret financial data, systems, and spreadsheets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and distribute timely reports detailing fiscal status, financial projections, resource availability, and anticipated program changes.
  • Coordinate accounting and payroll processes across multiple University departments to ensure seamless operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

Minimum of 4 years of experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping.

At least 2 years of experience managing Federal grants and working with OMB Circular guidelines. Familiarity with Workday software; CPA certification is a plus.

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure

This is a part-time position $26,290 annually
