Senior Designer, IC Layout

For Power Systems Group East

Summary

The Senior IC Layout Designer is responsible for creating section-level up to top-level layouts for Power Management Ics (PMIC), working closely with schematic designers, tech leaders, and layout designers. Beyond execution, the role involves actively shaping design decisions from early definition through silicon evaluation. You will ensure layouts meet schedule, drive high-quality execution, and achieve key analog performance targets (precise matching, minimized parasitics, low IR drop, and other layout-dependent effects).

In PSG East, layout designers are key problem solvers and decision makers. You will influence product direction from early planning through implementation and into post-silicon phases, providing critical insights, make key trade-off decisions, and help drive product success and learning across projects. Depending on project size, you may lead block layout resources by allocating work, setting schedules, and guiding execution. You will also have opportunities to mentor new hires or interns and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the layout team.

Key Qualifications

Extensive section (multi-hierarchical) level layout experience
Top/Chip level layout is an advantage
Strong fundamental knowledge in semiconductor device physics, cross-section and construction
Strong fundamental knowledge in layout principles, IC reliability and failure mechanisms
Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso XL and Calibre verification tools is an advantage

Education and Experience

BS Electronics or Electrical Engineering
At least 4 years of relevant working experience

Additional Requirements

Strong communications  and leadership skills
Able to work and effectively collaborate with a cross-functional and global team
Layout experience in any of the following areas is an advantage: Supervisors (Voltage/Current Monitors), Voltage Ref, LDO, DC-DC Converters (Buck/Boost)
Layout experience in the following technology nodes is a plus: 0.18um, 90nm
