About the Role
Rackner is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to support mission-critical systems in a secure environment. This role involves designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native applications using modern software engineering practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that directly support national defense and intelligence missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions using modern programming languages
- Build and deploy cloud-native, containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
- Develop and maintain microservices-based architectures and RESTful APIs
- Implement event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices to enable rapid, secure delivery
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment
- Support observability, monitoring, and system performance optimization
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages:
- Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, or TypeScript
- Experience with front-end frameworks such as:
- Angular, React, or Vue.js
- Experience with backend frameworks such as:
- Flask, Django, or Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience with:
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Helm for Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of:
- Microservices architecture
- RESTful APIs and OpenAPI specifications
- Event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka)
DevSecOps & Engineering Practices
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins
- Familiarity with GitOps workflows
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
- Terraform and/or Ansible
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD or federal programs
- Familiarity with secure software development practices
- Experience working in highly regulated or classified environments
