About your team
Dalian Legal Entity Control team is a centralised financial operations centre for the Asia Pacific Region. Multi-lingual teams of accounting professionals, dedicated to specific countries, control all facets of the region financial accounting processes in a shared services environment.
About your role
Provide dedicated end-to-end accounting support to Japan financial controller based in Sydney, managing the day-to day financial operations for Japan legal entities and ensuring full compliance with local regulatory and tax obligations. Liaise proactively with Sydney Financial Control team, Asia Pac Business Finance teams, and Global Capability Hubs to execute deliverables as directed, and support team operations and projects to uphold our high standards of customer service and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities are:
- Provide general accounting support, manage all period-end processing, and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close
- Prepare board reports and financial statements; support year-end and half-year-end audit activities and respond to audit queries
- Prepare tax workings and filings (e.g. C-tax/BP tax /Withholding Tax /Corp. /Enterprise /Inhabitants Tax, etc.) and support tax-related queries and audits
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; review daily bank reconciliations for designated accounts and resolve reconciling items
- Prepare regulatory reports (e.g. MoF reports, CAR, Flash reports, surveys, disclosure reports, business reports, etc.)
- Monitor and manage aged creditor balances and escalate issues as appropriate
- Manage and assist with intercompany settlements
- Handle ad-hoc queries and reporting requests
- Maintain and enhance process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Identify and implement process improvements in line with FIL policies; support managers on accounting-related matters and participate in process efficiency or system enhancement projects as required
- Perform other ad-hoc duties and accounting-related tasks as assigned by management
- Participate in team and task rotation programs
About you
If you fulfil following experience, skill set and qualification you may be the right candidate for this role.
• +5 years’ experience as an GL accountant, preferably in a financial services organisation
• University degree in accounting and / or finance
• Relevant accounting qualification
• High degree of integrity and strong team collaboration mindset
• Knowledge of Oracle cloud package (ideal but not essential)
• Advanced level of written/spoken English and Japanese (business level required)
• Proven experience and strong interest in leveraging technology to drive process efficiency
• Attention to detail, adapt to change
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
