About the role

Location: Brooklyn, NY (On-site initially → Hybrid/Remote)

About the Role

EVG Specialty Network and VERG Brooklyn are looking for a hands-on IT Administrator to join our team and serve as the go-to technology partner for a busy specialty animal hospital in Brooklyn—while also supporting additional hospital locations remotely.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their IT career (1–5 years of experience) who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and learning on the job. You’ll get exposure to everything from help desk support to systems and networking, with a clear path to grow into a more advanced infrastructure role over time.

You’ll start fully on-site to build relationships and gain a deep understanding of our systems, then transition into a more flexible hybrid/remote setup with occasional on-site visits.

What You’ll Do

Be the Go-To IT Support

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to doctors, technicians, and administrative staff
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues (Windows, printers, peripherals)
  • Support clinical and business applications used in a veterinary environment
  • Manage user accounts, access, and onboarding/offboarding

Support Core Systems

  • Assist with Windows servers, Active Directory, and basic Group Policy
  • Help manage Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Monitor system performance, backups, and alerts
  • Perform routine updates, maintenance, and patching

Work Across Networks

  • Troubleshoot basic network issues (connectivity, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
  • Support firewalls, switches, and wireless systems (Meraki experience is a plus)
  • Coordinate with vendors and ISPs when needed

Support a Growing Network

  • Provide remote IT support across multiple hospital locations
  • Help standardize systems and processes across sites
  • Assist with projects like new site setups, upgrades, and equipment rollouts

Contribute & Grow

  • Participate in IT projects (infrastructure upgrades, migrations, security improvements)
  • Maintain clear documentation for systems and processes
  • Help improve IT workflows and best practices

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and basic networking
  • Experience with:
    • Windows 11
    • Active Directory / user management
    • Basic networking (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP)
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users
  • Self-starter who can prioritize and work independently

Nice to Have

  • Microsoft 365 administration experience
  • Familiarity with virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V)
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or distributed environments
  • Exposure to networking/firewall platforms (e.g., Cisco Meraki)
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery
  • Experience in healthcare or veterinary settings

Work Environment

  • Phase 1: Fully on-site in Brooklyn, NY
  • Phase 2: Hybrid/remote with occasional on-site visits
  • Occasional after-hours work for maintenance or urgent issues

Why Join Us?

  • Gain hands-on experience across systems, networking, and support
  • Work in a fast-growing, multi-site healthcare environment
  • Clear path for career growth into more advanced IT roles
  • Transition into a flexible, primarily remote position after onboarding
  • Make a real impact supporting teams who deliver critical animal care
