Description:

The Maintenance Lead coordinates and or performs work involving two or more maintenance skills to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or structure of an establishment in repair.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including LOTO and proper PPE use
  • Coordinate and direct daily maintenance activities to support production and minimize downtime
  • Monitor department performance (downtime, response time, budget) and report status to management
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on manufacturing equipment, including extrusion machinery
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to maintain optimal equipment performance
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics
  • Order parts and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Train and support maintenance personnel; assist with scheduling and coverage as needed
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Document work orders, repairs, and equipment issues in CMMS
  • Maintain plant systems (chillers, air supply, resin delivery) and spare parts inventory
  • Operate machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, welders, grinders, drill press, band saw)

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical (up to 480V), and pneumatic systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment; extrusion experience preferred
  • Ability to read schematics and technical manuals; PLC knowledge a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable working at heights (up to 20 feet), climbing stairs, and around hot equipment

Compensation Information:

The hourly range for a Maintenance Lead is $32.50 to $39.00.  The pay rate for a successful candidate will depend on the geographic location, this pay range is for a successful candidate in the Chicagoland area.  The specific hiring rate within the posted range will depend on the candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
