About the role

As an Associate General Counsel, you’ll play a critical role in managing privacy and AI compliance, supporting customer engagement, and advising on compliance governance and product development for Nasdaq Verafin as part of Nasdaq's Global Ethics and Compliance Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise product, technology, and business teams on privacy, AI, and cybersecurity compliance, including privacy-by-design principles.

Support Nasdaq Verafin's strategic growth in the United Kingdom and European Union

• Identify and interpret new compliance requirements arising from global laws and regulations.
• Serve as an escalation point for privacy and AI-related contract negotiations and maintain compliance documentation.
• Support public policy initiatives and draft responses to regulatory proposals impacting Nasdaq Verafin.
• Participate in incident response and deliver privacy-related training across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (or equivalent) degree. And be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador or Ontario or eligible for membership.
• 5–8 years of experience in privacy, AI, or emerging technology law.
• Strong ability to collaborate across business, technology, and risk teams to deliver practical solutions.
• Clear communicator with experience in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
• Knowledge of global privacy laws, including GDPR, PIPEDA and US privacy laws.

Preferred Qualifications

• IAPP or similar professional certification
• Experience in fintech, banking, or regulated industries.
• Exposure to global teams and cross-border compliance challenges.
