Schedule Details

  • Position Type: PRN / Registry
  • Coverage Needs: Staff vacations and high-volume periods
  • Shift Availability: Must be available to cover all shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed)

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of ECG or hospital-related experience OR current enrollment or completion of a clinical health program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current CNA or EMT certification
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations across age groups (pediatric through geriatric)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities
  • Ability to recognize and respond to arrhythmias and critical findings
  • Ability to remain calm and compassionate when working with anxious or pediatric patients

What You Will Do

As an EKG Technician, you will perform diagnostic cardiac testing and support timely patient care through accurate data collection, communication, and coordination.

ECG & Cardiac Testing

  • Perform routine and STAT ECG procedures
  • Prepare patients while maintaining privacy and providing empathetic care
  • Obtain relevant patient history prior to procedures
  • Troubleshoot patient-related and technical challenges during ECG testing
  • Enter and verify patient data prior to transmitting results
  • Perform Holter monitor and event monitor applications, removals, and processing
  • Perform pacemaker checks and ensure results are transmitted and documented in the EMR

Clerical & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Verify orders and ensure appropriate procedure charges
  • Prepare and submit studies for physician interpretation within required timeframes
  • Complete and distribute all documentation following procedures
  • Edit and distribute ECG, Holter, and event reports for physician review
  • Maintain accurate logs, daily counts, and monthly reporting
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Maintain printers and coordinate service as needed
  • Follow downtime procedures when necessary

Communication & Care Coordination

  • Communicate findings, including arrhythmias or critical values, to physicians and nursing staff immediately
  • Provide ECG copies to nursing stations as required
  • Coordinate patient care with nurses and ancillary departments
  • Communicate barriers to testing (e.g., patient condition, equipment limitations)

Professional Development & Training

  • Participate in continuing education, meetings, and in-services
  • Maintain required certifications and annual training
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new staff
  • Support departmental education and competency validation

Environment & Equipment

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Follow infection control and safety standards
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly and remove from service when needed

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to push equipment (e.g., ECG machines)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
  • Occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds during patient care activities
  • Exposure to ill patients and bodily fluids
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to urgent call-ins as needed
