About the role

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

As a Sr Staff Controls Engineer, Platform, you will be a driving visionary force and primary governance authority for the software and data architecture of Crusoe's control systems. This role is fundamental to Crusoe’s mission: by owning the overall strategy and technical makeup of our telemetry evolution, development standards, and facility systems compute deployment, you will ensure our AI-optimized infrastructure scales seamlessly and reliably across the enterprise.

Working closely with cross-functional technical leadership and managing enterprise-focused vendors, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the technical strategy that directly supports our rapidly expanding greenfield projects and campuses. You won't just be managing systems; you will be defining the standards and deployment blueprints that govern our global footprint. This is a Full-Time position based in Denver, CO.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Strategic Technical Leadership: Serve as a lead architect and collaborative driver for the enterprise scaling plan and compute deployment strategy for all facility control systems and servers.

  • Enterprise Collaboration: Work directly with technical peers and enterprise partners to architect and develop our global controls strategy, acting as a defining technical authority.

  • Repository Governance: Maintain and govern our git repositories, ensuring the integrity and standardization of enterprise-level templates for Ignition UDT primitives and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.

  • Documentation & Scaling: Develop and own a comprehensive documentation strategy to enable ongoing maintenance, seamless operations, and rapid enterprise scaling.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate extensively with the broader controls team to ensure strict compliance and standardization with ongoing greenfield projects and campus build-outs.

  • Telemetry Evolution: Lead the evolution of our telemetry architecture, establishing robust development and standardization strategies for critical facility data.

  • Technical Mentorship: Mentor and elevate the technical capabilities of surrounding engineers and controls team members on best practices for software, data architecture, and enterprise standards.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Extensive Experience: At least 10+ years of technically applicable, hands-on professional experience in complex engineering or critical infrastructure environments.

  • Core Technology Expertise: Recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least two of the following three domains: Inductive Automation Ignition infrastructure, DevOps practices, or containerization / orchestration technologies.

  • Continuous Mastery: Demonstrated track record of rapidly mastering emerging enterprise tech stacks, with the expectation to achieve SME status across all three core domains (Ignition, DevOps, and containerization).

  • Critical Environment Background: Direct professional experience in data centers (highly preferred) or similar mission-critical environments such as Oil & Gas, semiconductor manufacturing, or energy generation.

  • Strategic Blueprinting: Proven ability to translate business goals into an actionable enterprise scaling plan and robust technical architecture.

  • Mandatory Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Bonus Points

  • Mission-Critical Databases: Expertise with Postgres, MSSQL, or other relational databases in high-availability environments.

  • Controls Experience: Proficiency with industry-standard control platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, or Codesys, etc.

  • Hardware & Networking Integration: Experience with low voltage electrical systems, controls I/O, and industrial networking design and/or configuration w/ systems such as Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance
