Precisely and accurately identifies, processes and prepares specimens in a timely manner and delivers them to the pathologist for review and diagnostic interpretations. Assists the Pathologist in the grossing of specimens and prepares tissue specimens for frozen section.Job Description:
1. Determines identity and suitability of specimens when received as documented on the requisition.
2. Logs in and assigns specimens.
3. Prepares tissue by processing in tissue processor, embedding, cutting sections, and staining according to stated procedures.
4. Prepares solutions and stains as specified in procedure manual.
5. Maintains all required logs, charts, and files.
6. Monitors inventory for testing.
7. Performs preparation of cytology specimens as required.
8. Assists Pathologist for the grossing of specimens in the OR area.
9. Helps prepare specimens for frozen section.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's required in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences
Master's Degree in Pathologist’s Assistant Program preferred.
Certification Requirements:
MLS(ASCP)/MT(ASCP)/CLS-NCA or PA(ASCP)

Pay Range:
$36.00 - $48.45The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
