The Senior Data Platform DevSecOps Engineer 

Job Summary 
The Senior Data Platyform DevSecOps Engineer will design, build and operate secure-by-default data platforms across BD Digital Transformation cloud ecosystem This role embeds security, privacy and compliance controls directly into data platform Architecture, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-code, to enable scalable analytics and AI workloads while meeting global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA), internal policies, and industry standards.  

This role will play a critical part in maintaining the integrity, security, and ethical use of data throughout its lifecycle within BD's extensive data ecosystem acting as a hands-on engineering with Data Platform partners, Cloud infrastructure, and Information Security teams 
 
Job Responsibilities 

Data Platform Security and Operations 

  • Design, implement and operate security controls for BD’s Databricks baseline data platforms, including workspace configuration, identity integration, cluster policies, and access controls 

  • Own platform-level monitoring and alerting for security posture, access activity, code changes, job execution and cluster performance. 

  • Partner with platform reliability team to secure, resilient and scalable operations of workload across development, test and production environments 

Automation and DevOps 

  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and repository for Databricks code deployment, configurationand automation of metadata logs for future Platform AI initiatives 

  • Support Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices using Terraform, AzureOps, Data Asset Bundles or similar tools 

  • Contribute to Automation and branching strategies for repeatable tasks to improve efficiency. 

  • Engineer policy-as-code, automated security checks and compliance validation integrated into software delivery lifecycle. 

Governance, Enablement and Collaboration 

  • Contribute to evolution of BD’s data governance framework as it relates to cloud data platforms, analytics, AI and ML Ecosystem. 

  • Provided technical guidance and enablement to data engineers, platform teams and solution developers on secure platform usage and DevSecOps best practices. 

  • Develop metrics, dashboards, and alerts to report on platform security posture compliance coverage, 

  • Participate in vendor assessments and contract reviews to ensure third-party data processors meet BD's compliance standards. 

Security, Privacy and Continuous Compliance Enablement   

  • Collaborate closely with legal, IT, information security, and business units to integrate privacy-by-design and security-by-design principles into the development and evolution of data platforms. 

  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of data access controls, data retention policies, data anonymization/pseudonymization techniques, and data security measures across various data storage and processing environments. 

  • Lead the response to data privacy inquiries, data subject access requests (DSARs), and potential data breaches, working multi-functionally to ensure timely and compliant resolution. 

  • Stay abreast of evolving data privacy laws, industry standards, and technological advancements to proactively adapt and strengthen BD's data platform compliance posture. 

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CISM, CISSP) preferred. 
  • Hand-on experience securing and operating modern data platforms ( e.g., Databricks, cloud data lakes, data warehouses, streaming and big data platforms) 
  • Experience with Event-driven (EDX) or State-based orchestration or Near Real-time architecture   
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)  
  • Practical Knowledge of Cloud Security fundamentals including IAM, Network Security and encryption, secrets management and logging /monitoring 
  • Strong communication and documentation skills  
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Cloud data privacy, compliance, information security, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on data platform compliance or data governance. 
  • In-depth knowledge of global data privacy regulations, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other relevant regional data protection laws. 
  • Demonstrable experience with leading audits for data platforms and technologies (e.g., cloud data lakes, data warehouses, big data technologies, ETL/ELT tools, database systems).​

Preferred

  • Experience with Databricks security features such as Unity Catalog, workspace isolation, cluster policies, and audit logging. 
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, or equivalent. 
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits through automated evidence collection and platform controls. 
  • Experience in the healthcare or medical device industry is a significant plus.
